Amy Merrill Receives American Red Cross Distinguished Award
On Friday, March 8, 2019 Amy Merrill of upstate New York was selected as the recipient of the Animal Rescue Award, presented by the American Red Cross. The American Red Cross Finger Lakes, NY Chapter noted their selection of Amy for this distinction was based on her incredible volunteer work with Dogs on Deployment.
Linda Conway from the American Red Cross, Finger Lakes Chapter nominated Amy Merrill. Dan Flatt, owner of Multi Media Services and pictured below, sponsored Amy’s award. Like so many of the outstanding sponsors we work with, Dan kindly offered to be of help if Dogs on Deployment has any printing needs going forward.
A few weeks back, Amy shared the wonderful news with her DoD friends and colleagues, saying “I just received word that I won the Animal Rescue Award from the NY Finger Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross! I’m so shocked!
I had to slow down on Dogs on Deployment activities this year because of issues with my son. So this was definitely not something that I expected. I’m so excited as this will really get word out in my current region of NY.”
Dogs on Deployment Needs You to Get Involved!
Said Amy, “after the ceremony, I had a man come up to me, very excited about the prospect of volunteering for Dogs on Deployment. After we spoke a bit, he immediately went on the DoD website to look for pets in need! Seeing events like that that unfold is a wonderful feeling.”
Dogs on Deployment is an organization completely staffed by incredible volunteers like Amy, without whom our mission would be impossible. Each person that supports Dogs on Deployment shares a few things in common, namely compassion, motivation and honor.
